drum vs disc
for the rear! i am looking up the parts for to rebuild my drum brakes and man stuff is pricey! but here is what i was looking at
http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mv...DRUMBRAKEPARTS http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mv...DRUMBRAKEPARTS http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mv...DRUMBRAKEPARTS http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mv...=WHEELCYLINDER looking at $224 and being that my chevelle came with 12 bolt with a c clip elim i am not having many options as for rear disc but i did talk to someone at wilwood and this is the kit they told me to get http://www.jegs.com/i/Wilwood/950/14...rentProductId= $557 which would you do? get the drum rebuilt at half the cost and do the disc conversion when its time to replace the brakes or just stick with the drums forever, or just get the disc and call it a day? |
The only benefit to rear disc would be the ease of changing pads vs shoes ,I dont think it would stop that much better .
|
yeah i am sitting here thinking about it i think i am going to stick with the drums for now. (like the next 10 years..lol) and just get the stuff to replace it. even though i think it will be a lot cheaper getting it from napa or something
|
And rear calipers won't clear most 15" wheels. Ask me how I know...I had to convert back to rear drums to retain the steel wheels and dog dish caps.

You should not be driving that fast anyways.

lol i know i know thats what i have the rx7 for :) but after thinking about it for a while the more i look at it the more i should stay drums
|
Have you checked into 3rd Gen camaro rear disc brakes? I know they are a direct fit for my 66 10 bolt and are cheap to get.
|
have not looked but my problem is i have c clip elims on my setup and i wasnt planning on changing it out yet
