New from Wisconsin....

I am new to Chevelles. I spend the last eight years finishing and restoring a .65 Mustang Fastback. I like to attend and participate at the local shows, and the Mustang did pretty good. I had always admired the look and styling of the Chevelles. I sold the Mustang last month and I am now on the hunt for the next car.

I especially like the '66 or '67 cars, so I am looking to buy a Chevelle or Malibu convertible. I have quickly found out that the market is tough when trying to buy one of these. Consistently, the cars I've seen so far have been molested and are a far far away from what would be factory correct. How rare is it to find a Chevelle or Malibu convertible that has been restored back to "factory original specs"? Pricing seems to be on the high end and add in a BB and 4 Speed, and prices are really crazy!

For starters - I would ask if there is a monthly magazine devoted to vintage Chevelles and Malibus? Also, is there one or more books about Chevelles that are recognized as being the best or the gold standard for a new guy like me?

I think 67's are as popular a car as 70's when it comes to the price. Most 67 convertibles are up there in price. A nicely restored 67 goes for big money from what I have seen.

ACES (American Chevelle Enthusiasts Society) put out a magazine if you are a member called Chevelle World.

Like Ray said, ACES is a great place to start. I am pretty sure that the phone number is on their website. When you call you will have a 50/50 chance that you actually talk to Chuck, if not it will be his wife. They are both very friendly people and are always willing to help. flash (John) is a really good friend of Chuck and does a yearly road trip with him.

Chuck may also know of a car that is available ,he may even have one .By the way WELCOME to my favorite Chevelle forum. I am lucky to call Chuck and Larae very good friends and we have so much fun traveling this country with them in our Chevelles. You can find nice 67 Malibu verts reasonably priced if you take your time ,may not be big block or 4 speeds but you can easily change that .

I'm not a motorhead or a racer, just a guy who likes to put the top down, drive to the local car show and hang out with friends. A nice Malibu with a bench seat and AT on the column would suit me just fine.
