Side mirror question

We have a passenger side mirror that drops down when ever we drive our car. We can never use it. Can they be corrected or do we just buy new ones?

You can try some super glue inside the socket as a temporary fix or some JB Weld as a permanent one but I just replaced mine.

If you have a spring loaded center punch...try "knurling" the exposed portion of the ball swivel by punching it numerous times. Knurl as much of the ball as possible.
The raised metal of the punch marks will tighten up the mirror head.

And to think that I replaced mine when I could have knurled. :)

Ok we Knurled both side mirrors and that makes them stay fairly well. Lots better than they were. Now we can wait to buy new ones, maybe a Christmas present to us. Thank you.

Car parts make the best gifts, don't they ? And birthday and anniversary, and Valentine's Day...I could go on and on. Who needs candy when you can have something for your car.
