What a drive home.

This afternoon it was snowing as David and I were driving back from downtown Detroit. We were in my big Astro Van when the guy in the car beside me quickly cut over into my lane right beside me, luckily there was no one in the left lane.

As we were talking about how stupid this guy was that he couldn't see this big van, the car in front of me hit a patch of ice and lost control. We were traveling 50mph and there was probably 5 car lengths between me and him. The car slid into the median, spun out into the center lane and spun more til it hit the center median again and came to a stop. I don't know how I avoided hitting him, or anyone else. The car gods must have been watching out for me twice today. I hope that person is ok.

I don't mind driving in this weather. There are just some people who think that they are invincible and have no business being on the road. I hit the same patch of ice that the guy in front of me hit, but the way his vehicle reacted it looked like he cut the wheel really hard to the right and then to the left to correct the slipping. And that is what made it worse and caused him to lose it.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of common sense that goes flying out the window when the weather turns bad.You would think that living/growing up in a place that experiences "winter" weather that people might retain that info.

Glad you are alright. People need to slow down.

It's bad in Florida every time it rains or there is heavy fog. (like last week) The blacktop here is referred to as "black ice", after a rainstorm.

Thanks guys. It just goes with driving in Michigan, on the M-10, or as we call it the Detroit Autobahn.
