Has anyone made a custom console?

I recently swapped in an ls1 and 6 speed. While doing so I had to enlarge my trans tunnel and put aside my 4 speed console. I ended up selling the 4 speed console on ebay since it would no longer fit. I then started working on making a new updated piece to go between the seats. Here's where I'm at so far. I still need to find some a/c vents that I like and then get the console upholstered, but I think it's going to work out well. :D

Any other suggestions while it's under construction? I was thinking about some accent lighting somewhere, but can't decide.

I think that is really to look cool. Very nice looking and nice work. How about a couple of small lights to light up on the side to come on when you open the doors to light up the floor area?

Hey gang, I finally got around to getting my console finished up. I took it to a local upholstery shop and had it wrapped. Here's my end result. ;)

That turned out pretty nice! The upholstery shop did a good job keeping the stitching straight. I have seen some custom consoles like that, and dash pads where the stitching just looked, well bad...

WOW ,how did I miss this thread ? That console looks great .

Looks really good.

For my Caprice, I am planing a custom console, but was going to use high-density foam for molding and fiberglass/epoxy for form. Since yours turned out so nice, I might reconsider and do it with wood now.
