Wife's '65
 

Getting ready to dive into the wife's 65 Malibu. It is the car she drove to high school. After 25 in the garage I will be slowly getting it back on the road. Plan is a running/driver project. I have a son this is almost 15 and he made me aware that he has never seen the car from under the car cover. Didn't realize it have been that long. Family and life's priorities hadn't made time/money to mess with the car but things are changing a bit and ready to dive in. First will be all new interior as the current stuff stinks of mouse. Can't have a a rolling project if you can't stand to get in it due to the smell. Would appreciate some suggestions of where to get a complete interior kit in the moderate price range. Not building a show car just a nice driver for the wife. Look forward to the forum,

Welcome ,got any pics to share .National Parts Depot is where I bought my interior stuff but shop around .

I was lucky enough to have a nice interior, but have found a cheap guy locally that does nice upholstery work. That might be the way to go. Welcome to the site and keep us posted! :D

There is nothing wrong with PUI covers- they are nice quality and a fair price.

Legendary is just a step better- although 90% of people would probably never be able to tell the difference between them. Cost is a lot more.

For seat foam if you need it. There is a world of difference between PUI and ACI. Some say forget about PUI, it's just not worth it. ACI is the best on the market some say. I used ACI because the PUI was way to stiff and hard.

I also used a local guy to help with my interior, but purchased everthing first. Again welcome to the site.

I used ACI cushions (seat buns) and PUI covers and have been pleased with them .I think I used ACC carpet .

Welcome Cutman. I went with the NPD for the interior on mine. I like it and it looks nice. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the welcome and intierior feedback. Like I said, this car has been in hiding for many, many years. It was in my in-laws garage while I was in the service then sat out for about 2 years while finding funds for the shop it eventually snuggled under a car cover for the past 20ish years. This is the only shot I can find of the car. Taken summer of '95. Looking forward to getting busy.

Nice projects youve got under your belt and the Chevelle will be the best of the bunch.
