I wonder sometimes who does the voting?

I have gone to a few car show this year, and the main reason I really go is to talk cars, relax and enjoy the rides that show up. But when awards are given out, I have notice a trend in the last 3 shows I have been too. One club seems to walk away with 95% of the awards. They have been shows where you only get one vote for the peoples choice award as far as I know. A lot of car owners say they will not come back because they are there for a award. Like I said that is not the reason I go to car show, I try to pick one that supports a charity I would give money too, like Make a Wish Foundation, or Oregon Food Bank for example.
I know in our car show we have outside people vote and no club members are allowed to vote to try to keep it fair. Only 2 weeks away for our Chevelle and ElCamino show this year. Summer seems to be flying by.

i know here at the car shows here the same people win it over and over again. I have been a member of one car club for 8 years and have never won once! but a bone stock 95 vette wins at least 1 or 2 times a year. and a elky owner wins almost every show we go to!

All sounds familiar. I really don't care about an award, like Ray I go to see the other cars, talk to friends and meet new people.

They give out awards each week at Baker's, that isn't until 6:30-7:00. I leave before then. Chris Baker stands in the drive and greets every classic car that comes in. Two weeks ago he asked me to come see him after I parked so he could put my name on the clip board. That means you'll probably get an award. It was too damn hot, I didn't go see him and we left long before the awards.

I am another person who goes to car shows to see some beautiful cars and talk to people. I too have seen the same people win show after show after show. Especially if it is a show with the same group holding it in different venues.

I don't go to win a trophy, if I do it makes me feel good, and my son is proud and beems from ear to ear. But I don't like the shows where the winners are predetermined by the members. I think that every car has a chance, especially the works in progress. You have to appreciate someone who is taking the time to restore a car that is 40+ years old.
