Had a good day Saturday

I know it's Tuesday now but I've been busy. Went to a birthday party for my Uncle Ed, he turned 89 on Thursday. It poured buckets on and off but it was a good time. Saw my cousins, his sons, Ed, Tom and Gary. Growing up we lived 4 blocks apart. My cousin Ed and I went from kindergarten through high school together. Also saw my cousins Joe, Ken and Patty, they only lived a few miles away growing up.

Of course we also got to see the old man and my Aunt Shirley, God bless them. Whenever I see my aunt she says, "There's my other son." and she was my other mom. My dad, my Uncle Ed and my dad are, were brothers. My dad passed away when I was 7 yrs old. Being only 4 blocks away I spent a lot of time at my aunt and uncle's house with my cousins. My uncle took me with my cousin Ed on our first deer hunting trip, and many to follow. Spent a lot of time at their cottage, hunting, fishing, skiing and drinking.

So it was good seeing them. Got a chance to tell the old man I loved him and thanks for all he did for me. I guess when you get older and start losing the people that were and are important to you, you appreciate the time you get to spend with them even more.

Anyway, it was a good day. Don't wait for tomorrow, you may miss your chance to say what needs to be said. Glad I didn't miss mine.

Your family sounds much happier than mine ,although not much of mine is left.

Hank, I do agree with you. You should tell the people that you love, how you feel as much as possible. I am glad that your Uncle was there for you, and still is. Lucky man. Both of you.

Spent a lot of time with family growing up. Aunts, uncles, cousins and grand parents on both sides of the family. We always have a good time when we get together, it's not very often though. Most of my cousins are still here in Michigan but scattered around, most are over 50 miles from where we live.

Of 13 aunts and uncles only 4 are still alive. When my cousin said they were having a birthday for my uncle it occurred to me that I probably never said thanks and told him I loved him.
