don't ask me why i am doing this
but i said to myself i am going to make a book of all the parts i have ordered for my chevelle so that way i can reference them if anyone ever has a question about what i have in or on the chevelle for technical purposes. So i said well while i am at it let me add it all up!
Summit racing $2743.11 Napa $581.54 my motor 454 $400 rebuild at machine shop (only the short block) 1000 T56 $1899 wheels $200 tires $900 so i am at 6823.65 and that doesn't include all of the stuff i got on ebay or the forums! why did i look that up for....lol remind me to never show my wife this thread.....lol |
I absolutely stopped doing that a while back.......too much incriminating evidence should it fall into the wrong hands. Oh if she only knew.....
|
LOL yeah man i dont want her to know at all. i just need a reference guide of my parts in the motor and so on. but i kept going man that is a deep amount!!
|
She doesn't ask, I don't tell...Everyone is happy!
It is crazy how fast it all adds up!! |
Remember the $100.00 for the steering wheel you bought from me.
Summit must love you, I hope they sent a sticker to you. |
That's why I said not including eBay and forum lol

Oh, I started one of those books, I actually still have it. To be honest, in the 2 years that I spent restoring my car, the total of the parts was many tens of thousands of dollars, and I am still finding receipts. Now this includes the Dart 400 motor I have. But I was blown away when I totalled it up. Then a few days ago I found another big stack of receipts that I didn't know about.
My suggestion....don't do it. Just enjoy the build and all the progress you make. Just my two cents, and believe me, you are going to need all the cents you have. |
I save all my receipts in a folder...and all the instructions in another.
Im sure i have over 30k...and still need paint and body. ive been working on this car for 6 years...so its not to bad. |
the only reason why i did it is because I wanted to have a record of everything i have done or installed on my chevelle. And i can reference back to it when i need it. its not to keep track of my spending or to see how much i have spent its for things like adjusting my rockers. i had everyone asking me what cam do i have and i was like umm let me look at my order sheet. now i have it in a folder with the cam card and i can easily open up the binder and say i have cam xyz and the cam card says abc
|
My receipt envelope was busting at the seems it was time for a bigger folder. My wife took a guess and I think she is pretty close to what I've spent. Every time I think I'm getting close to the end something else pops up. When it's done it will all be worth it though to me.
