Winston-Salem NC-Classic Muscle Parts?
 

Being a newbie pretty much in just gietting started in restoring my '71 Chevelle I'm hoping someone here can give me some info. Been looking on-line to order some body bushings and hardware for my '71 2 dr. coupe. Classic Muscle Parts from Winston-Salem NC has the 68-72 body kit with hardware listed at $85 plus shipping. Looking for quality over $$ but has anyone any knowledge or info on this company? Will go with rubber over synthetic bushings but hoping anyone with experience with ordering parts from this company to chime in. Thanks.

All the vendor sell the same stuff. There are only a few manufactors who make parts for the Chevelle's. Use a vendor that gives you the service you want. I have used Ground Up Restoration and NPD (National Parts Depot) on my build. I have also heard good things about Ausley chevelle parts.

If you have not done so, email or call these vendors and get their free catalogs so when you are ready to buy parts you can check out what they have. I have at least 4 catalogs on my shelf to look at before I order any parts.

Being new myself, this is a good question. The next one should be where to start. My '70 has so much that needs done I can't figure out what to prioritize! :what:

Start at the bottom, Work on the frame and running gear first, then you move to the sheet metal work and body work, interior is last.

If you are doing a frame off, then that will give you a chance to make sure the frame is straight. You need a good foundation to work from. If the frame is bent or not straight all the body work and aligning the panels will be for nothing.

Thanks for the good advise! This is my first fun car and I plan on doing it all myself. I'm not dissing my Hummer, it's a fun vehicle too!

Classic Muscle is a branch off of a GM dealership's parts department. They have a lot of NOS parts and generally try to carry the higher quality reproduction parts when GM parts are not available. Not the cheapest game in town though. Bowtie smiley
