I got a great Christmas present.
 

Last weekend there was a knock on my door at 9pm. I immediately looked at my daughter sitting on the couch and said "Who is knocking on my door at 9 o'clock at night ?" She said "It's not my friends". Then I heard a voice through the door that said "Ruben". Now, Ruben is the boyfriend of my oldest daughter and they live in Las Vegas.

My immediate reaction, other than being happy to see him, was....is your dad OK. It is not unusual for Ruben to come back to Michigan to check on his dad who has had some medical problems in the past few years. Besides it is easier for him to get the days off. So we sat down at the table and started talking.

All of a sudden my back door opens and I hear "SURPRISE" !! Standing in the door way is my daughter Jennifer, who I haven't seen in 2 years. I was shocked, happy, crying and punched Ruben for hiding her from me. And then later I found out that David was in on the whole surprise. I guess one of Jens coworkers needed days off and when she switched with Jennifer, it worked out that Jen had Sunday through Wed off and they decided to make a last minute trip to Michigan.

It was nice, we just hung out around the house during the day. And her and Ruben went out with their friends at night. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.

I also had the opportunity to meet Ruben's dad. I never knew it, but Ruben's dad played professional Football for 10 years for the Detroit Lion's in the 70's early 80's. What a character, and what stories this man told. It was a wonderful few days, and I can't wait for the next visit.

Very nice suprise, always nice to have family home.

Glad the surprise was a good one ,Grumpy being involved does not surprise me at all .Congrats and great pics too.

Good for you Nancy. That's a nice surprise at this time of year.

We got a little surprise too. Susan is coming home Christmas eve and will be here through the 4th. She doesn't start her new job until mid-January.

Hank, I am so glad you will get the time with your daughter over the holidays.

That's what makes the Holidays special to me...family and friends taking time to get together!!
