fuel pump

Has anyone installed an extra fuel pump to use to fill the carb with gas after it has been spitting for awhile. I just hate using the starter to run the mechanical pump...

I don't know about an extra pump but you could switch to an electric pump and get rid of the mechanical one.

Or you could manually fill the bowls. I learned that when my chevelle sat for two weeks..lol

I have manually filled the bowls in the past. The older I get the more lazy I get! The idea of replacing the mechanical pump with an electric may be the ticket. My initial thought was just a extra pump I could operate manually but t replacing the pump entirely would work!

Ya, I'm not sure how you would plumb 2 pumps. I wouldn't think inline with each other would be a good idea. So that means Teeing the lines, check valves, etc. Doesn't sound like fun.

e pump seems to be the way to go then.

Inline works. mechanical is a diaphragm so no resistance. Electric is centrifugal again there is no resistance when it is idle. Biggest thing is make sure it is a pump for a carb. It will instantly flood the carb when full if it is not regulated below correct pressure.
I have done it using the pump in a newer cars tank and a older engine with a mech fuel pump at the same time. Namely Monzas.

Thanks Chevymaher...
