Aftermarket Carburetor advice?

Any advice on a good new replacement for a Quadrajet on a 1972 350 - 4 barrel.

Most guys would say get the Q-jet rebuilt, they can be pretty good carbs. If you prefer to replace Holley and Edlebrock may pretty good carbs that won't break the bank. Which one? You'll get opinions both ways on which is best, I've only had Holleys so I can't offer an objective opinion.

Thanks Hank. I have considered doing that but the sound of a brand new one is tempting. I just want reliable performance - it is going into my 72 Wagon...

If you can get the q-jet rebuilt and tuned right they are extremely hard to beat. I've always ran edelbrock and have always had good luck with them until recently. Have never really ran Holley except to try on my motor I just built, so can't say much for them. They are very tunable if you want to adjust on it though. I have heard a lot of good things about the new street demon carbs, which is more than likely what I'm going to buy next.

I ran a holley 600 on my camaro with a 355 mild build. it was fine for me until my uncle got his hands on the car and now he is running a 750 and getting about 3 mpg ...lol

I would have Ken @ everyday performance rebuild the Quadrajet. He did the one on my previous 72' Monte Carlo. It ran flawlessly, I daily drove the car up until the day I sold it.

If you do change it, make sure you get one that will give you the power you need without throwing gas out the exhaust pipe. People put to big of carbs on their motor, just to say they have it.

Go with a Edelbrock Performer 600. Great carb, I have one on my 70 and very happy with it.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to contact Ken at everyday to get a price and compare it to the Edelbrock performer...
