Cars/trucks - What Do You Miss ?

Haven't posted on here for awhile but have been wondering. Does anyone besides myself miss the way cars and trucks used to be built? I hate the new cars and trucks with all the bells and whistles seems they have to have now days. I miss crank windows, cloth seats (hate leather seats), vent windows and distinctive body lines. Can't tell one car from another for the most part now days, except it's green, red, black, white, brown...etc. 2 wheel drive trucks sit higher than my '71 Chevy 4x4 does. Everything just has to have power windows, power locks, power mirrors, heated seats, self adjusting pedals, DVD screens, auto hatch doors, etc. Sure some things I would hate to give up such as my A/C and automatic trans in the family hauler but come on, all these add-ons sure bring up the bottom line when buying a new vehicle. $50-$60 K for a new truck ? !! $35-$45 for a family car ? !!

Guess I'm just out of touch with today's world.

Im with you ,dont like all the gadgets but the newest one we own is an 04 Sport Trac for my wife a daily driver and I have a 93 Indy Pace truck and just got a basically free 95 Chevy extended cab truck with a 350 and 5 speed trans Im playing with . The 95 is manual everything except steering ,rubber mat inside w/ a decnt factory stereo and cloth bench seat .I traded my emplorer firewood for it .

With prices on new cars and trucks today ,Im out .Before I but anything new I will start driving my classics .

Guess I'm just the opposite...

I like my toys but also like the dependability of a newer vehicle with all it comfort & gadgets. We usually buy new every couple years. If you stay on top, sticker shock doesn't hurt too bad.
Probably actually better in our case but we never lease.

I've grown quite accustomed to power windows, keyless entry, cruise control, etc. I don't need or want something that parks itself, has a backup camera, etc.

I will stick with my 2001 Silverado, still cable driven throttle body, and doesn't have electric power steering.

I prefer old junk. If it has air power steering and brakes I am good. Electric windows I do with or without.

When my engine went out I had a choice of a new car or fix the van. I choose the van. Durango is next up to bat it is getting miles on it now.

I choose what I want because I like the look. Deal with making it last secondary.

In that respect they are like the chevelle to me. No following, not worth a nickle after you stick all that money in them. But I like driving them and that is all that matters.

I like my vehicles they are my toys.

Chevelle is fun to drive on short drives, but like driving the new vehicles. Besides I wonder how we survived accidents in them back in the day. I'll take the new safety features any day.

I'll have to admit, I doubt that I would have fared well in an older vehicle in my last accident. I nearly died in a 35 MPH impact while driving an 89' LX five liter mustang in 1995. I was going close to 80 MPH when I spun out and hit the concrete retainer wall in my truck last April. Not a scratch on me, and the truck was still drivable despite being twisted up.
