Shipping Recommendations

Hey everyone, I found a 402 CTX 70 motor for my car complete. It's in Indiana and I need to get it to Oregon. Whats the best way to have it shipped here and also cost effective?

I have used a company called Forward Air. Been a while but for a 300 pound pallet it was 175 bucks.

What do you think a motor weighs complete?

Hank70SS 05-17-2010 06:41 AM

I think a complete BBC weighs a little over 700 lbs.

grumpy 05-17-2010 02:10 PM

closest I could find on weight was 650 lbs for a 454.

I owner told me it was around 750 pounds with everything on it.
Thanks for the help, I believe I have a shipping solution in the works.

Good luck Ray, hope it works out. Is it a running engine or will it need a rebuild?

It was running, but will needs to be rebuilt. Next winters project. Plan to run the car with the motor it has in it this summer.

Yep you are correct about 750 pounds with iron heads. I always used Forward Air or took a road trip if possible. Road trips can be good because of the freebee's the seller can have laying around but I know it's not practical sometimes. Keep us posted.
