I hate waiting on parts !

I hate waiting on the delivery of parts. Why can't these companies tell you the truth? Parts were ordered, we were told they would be there Friday. The delivery company showed that the parts were "out for delivery". And here it is 8:30pm, and no parts. We would have paid for the quicker delivery, but we were told it would be here. Now with the holiday, we won't get the part we need to continue building the motor, til TUESDAY. This stinks !!!

I hate waiting on parts !!!

So I'm not alone. I ordered a dash brake light lens and it took six weeks. I guess it's part of the program buying stuff for old cars.

Slowest part of the build is waiting on parts. I have had to wait weeks also to get a part.

That's why I try to use NPD for everything I can. I can drive there and pick up the parts and they seem to always have everything in stock. A couple of weeks ago was the first time in 6 years they didn't have everything to fill my order. I needed 2 clips to hold the vent cables into the kick panels and they only had one. Guy said they would be in next week, call and ask for me and I'll throw one in envelope and mail it to you.

I am with hank on this. I try to get everything I can locally. Problem was no one had the oil pan we needed so it had to be ordered from Jegs. Normally I use Summit but they were back ordered.

For engine type stuff I like Summit, their shipping is amazing. I've ordered stuff in the afternoon and find it sitting in the driveway the next morning.

I also buy most of my stuff locally, but every so often they have to order it and that whats slows things down.

I have spent more time on the road driving the 45 minutes each way to NPD than I care to imagine. If you can imagine this, I am 45 min. from NPD, the car is 1 hr 20 min. from NPD, then 45 min home. Almost 3 hours total driving, this does not include the time spent at NPD, nor the time spend with the builders at the shop. I did this 3 times a week, two weeks in a row. I did this 2 days because of parts mismarked at NPD.

I organized all the receipts for the car this week, and I can say I have a good month of daily rides to NPD. I am surprised that they didn't offer me a room cause I was there so much.

I'm going to have to try NPD more. "Those guys" in Seal Beach can never give you an update on shipping. It just ships when it ships.

Throw away those receipts! Lynda started saving all the receipts in a folder with other car stuff. Now she doesn't even want to know what's been spent in the last 6 years. It's a hobby, not an investment. You can go to the casino, or bowling, or a hockey game, do you save the receipts? No different with the Chevelle.
