Took out Grumpy's Jeep today
Went to my first real "cruise" today, and not in my car, but in Grumpy's 1972 Jeep Commando. It was held by the Michigan Wolverine 4 wheel drive Jeep club. Not a huge show, but what a great group of guys. Someone in the club noticed a small leak under Grumpy's Jeep, and thesd guys jumped into action. Someone found the small piece of hose he needed, the business that the show was held at gave us a new clamp for the hose, no charge, and the guys from the club changed it for us. WOW !!
We will post some pics tomorrow, just too tired and sunburn tonight. |
I hope you got it back home before the old Grump noticed it was missing.

They gave away a few plaques for different things. One of our favorites at the show was this huge truck. The owners took a pickup truck and converted it into this.
They have hooked up with the local Veterans and bring it to as many charity events as they can. I talked to one of the owners (the blond on the left) and she and her husband own a garage door company and they do ALOT of charity work. In the fall they pack backpacks for kids who need school supplies, they donate prizes to the local dragstrip, along with alot of other charity work. She seemed like a genuine person, someone who does things, not for any recognition, but because it is the right thing to do. They got our vote for "people choice" award, unfortunately they did not win that one. But they did win another award.....The MacGuyver Award...Kinda self explanatory on that award. Buy the way, did I mention that it took 4 guys, 6 days to put this all together. They did everything except one, the bar on the veryback they had to have someone else do cause they just couldn't get it right. |

They had contests for the kids. They had someone stand in the middle of the parking lot, then announced that the "first 3 people with" a tow rope, or a fire exstinguisher, a tree saver strap, the remote control for the wench, and many other things. So this is what the back of the Jeep looked like, cause my kids wanted to be prepared. They ended up winning a pair of mechanics gloves, a banner, a couple of stickers that say "built not bought". Most importantly they had a blast and it was hilarious watching these kids try to find the guy with the prizes.
