13.85 volts is a little low, if you get the rpms up it should be over 14. Might not hurt to pull the alt and have it tested. One blown diode and it will still charge, not at full capacity though and can drain the battery when not running.

Propane torch is also a good way to check for vacuum leaks too, not messy. Is your vacuum advance working? I heard a vacuum leak on my car, turned out to be the vacuum advance canister leaking.

You mentioned all the heat and humidity, might not hurt to pull the distributor cap and make sure it's dry and no corrosion.
