What's everyone been up too?
After we got back from our little trip in the motorhome I started tearing the beds out of the back so we can put in a full size bed. Moved the nightstands and the little lamp on the wall back to their original places. Tore out the bed frames and moved the heat ducts back to where they were. Tore the carpet out too. Now I have to go to HD and buy some wood to make a new frame and get some carpeting. Hope they rent some kind of carpet stapler.
My uncle asked me if I would look at his motorhome, squeal from the engine sometimes, also oil change, filter, lube and air filter. I suspected a bad idler/tensioner pulley so I slipped the belt off, which has to be done from underneath. When I released the tension I saw the AC compressor pulley wobble, it's also down near the bottom of the engine. So I pulled the clutch plate off and the guts of the bearing fell out, ball bearings rolling all over the driveway. This pulley was wobbling so bad it tore up the coil. There was a mass of knotted up wires underneath the pulley when I pulled it off.
Oh shit, now I did it! One serpentine belt runs everything so now it can't be driven anywhere. I have a 31' and a 34' motorhome in my driveway along with 2 pickups. Of course the AC compressor and clutch assembly are not what they use on Ford pickups or trucks, it's a special model, not a Ford part. I searched to the end of the internet looking for a replacement clutch. Good thing I was paying attention, I almost fell off the end. Finally found a company that is sending me the whole compressor. Hopefully I can just take off the clutch assembly and not have to replace the compressor. Funny, clutch assemblies are around $100 and the whole compressor with clutch and filled with oil is only a little over $200.
So that's what's been occupying my time. Would like to get my motorhome done, including a set of headers. Hopefully we can go down to FL in Feb or Mar for a few weeks. What's everyone else been doing?
