I carry a pocket knife every day... I have since middle-school.
Never even thought of it as a "weapon", it's always been a "tool"
My current one is a swiss-army knife with a bunch of stuff on it, screwdrivers, knives, sawblade, bottle opener, file, pick, scissors, etc. I use the scissors more than anything else, and that's just to trim my fingernails. I just had to buy a new one because I lost my old one. The old one belonged to the previous owner of my '69 SS car... he left it in there.
I carry a Ruger LCP .380 in my other pocket.
