I'm running into the same problem with my 70 Malibu. I thought selling it with the 400sbc and everything else original to the car with brand new interior kit would be worth $5,000. It even comes with a 1987 L98 350 out of a Corvette rebuilt with a Comp Cams 268H cam and all brand new valvetrain with HD springs and double roller chain set with an Edelbrock performer intake and Holley 650 carb. I got the 12 bolt rear going with it too. Don't forget the factory Disc brakes too! I got original GM door panels and everything else for the interior is new except the dash as I planned on replacing it with an SS Dash (ended up buying another car) I figured I'd end up getting $4,500 for it but so far out of the 40+ phone calls and about the same amount of e-mails I have gotten 1 person to actually come look at the car and he told me I was asking too much. I said make an offer and he told me $1,000. It actually pisses me off people will make an offer like this. He pulled up in a beat to hell explorer and asked if I would be interested in a trade. I just junked an 87 Caprice a few weeks ago and got $600 for it. I don't know what people think. I bet if I sold it to him for a grand, I couldn't buy it back from him for anything under 5.
