Well, I finally found a replacement driver's side arm and fixed that problem. Used a wide flat blade screwdriver and carefully pried up from side to side and arm popped right off. Don't think I will be able to repair the replaced arm, the arm is damaged where the spring attach rod inserts to the arm to hold tension for the spring. Guess that explains why the spring decided to take leave of the situation. Now need to look for another spare to have on hand. Always like to have spare parts for 40 year old vehicles. Guess that is why my garage, shop and parts shed is so full.
