We went to Macon ,Ga yesterday ,took off from work at noon to go see our friends :The Silver Travis Band at a small lounge in Old Downtown Macon Georgia .We arrived way early as had never been there before and they were also having a street festival this weekend and we wanted to beat the trafic. We arrived and walked in this little lounge and looked at the wall of fame and were amazed at the small acts that became some of the most famous southern rock and roll legends from Little Richard to Lynnerd Skinnerd and the famous ALLMAN Brothers Band of which this is their hometown.This little lounge was where Capricorn Record Execs reviewed ALL their acts before they were signed to a contract and they had acts from all over the world come here to try and start their careers .This lounge called Grants Lounge was cellebrating their 40th year while we were there and were hosting a reunion and salute to the music and history of Capricorn Records .We were up close and personal with some of the most famous southern rock musicians ever heard including the original drummer from Skinnerd as well as other members ,and many other groups represented as well as the producer of Skinnerd and other bands .Silver Travis put on a great show by themselves but then were joined by all these famous special guests in several all out Jam Sessions including the son of the Lead Singer from Marshall Tucker who looks and sounds just like his dad did .We were there until 1:30 AM enjoying the show ,we are dog tired today but boy what a show that was for a $10 donation to support keeping alive the southern rock movement.
