Th 350 will work just fine, but if it were me I would go with a TH400 if you are going to rebuild one. What are you going to use the car for? What cam is in the motor? Most shift kits can be adjusted from normal to shifting hard if you want it too. I'm not an expert in this area at all. I got a used TH400 and with a friends help rebuilt it myself, total cost was only about $400. A friend of mine has a roller cam built 454 , TH350 and is using a stall converter 32-3500 converter with 4.11 gears.
