While at a car show this week I met a lovely little old lady named Ruth. Now Ruth owns a Buick Skylark, and has for the past 10 years. It was a gift to her from her husband because she didn't like driving his car, and of course he didn't want her driving his car.
So Ruth told him that she wanted a convertible that was comfortable and easy to drive. She said she didn't want some big a bulky thing that took her forever to park and it needed to be fun to drive, that's where the convertible part came in.
It took her husband a few phone calls and he had a buddy, who knew of an auction, that had a convertible Skylark for sale. His buddy heard that the car was in pretty good condition and got the phone number for Ruth's husband. A phone call was made, and sight unseen, the car was bought and shipped here to Michigan. When the car came off the trailer, Ruth said it was SO dirty, especially the vinyl top. But with some scrubbing, it sits as you see it now.
What did Ruth pay for the car ? Ten years ago they paid about $3 grand. What did they do to get the car looking this way ? Washed it, changed the oil and plugs, and replaced a few hoses and tires. How many miles on this car ? When Ruth got it, it had 30,000 original miles, right now it has about 35,000. She drives it to car shows and that's about it. But the car is all original, the paint looks like the car was redone, and the interior looks almost brand new. By the way, that is Ruth sitting up on the lawn in the 1st picture.
