Gary, sounds like you did the right thing. Glad your daughter understands where you're coming from, why you did it.
Ray, wow. Tough situation. The granddaughter is not your biological granddaughter but still your granddaughter. Starting over and raising a child at this point in your life would also be pretty tough. No advice from me on this one. You have to do what's right for you and the rest of your family.
