Well that was fun! Started plowing the drive this morning, finished around 4:45. I wasn't done with ours but was down at the street and decided to go over and do the neighbors, they're still not home. They're in their 70's, he had polio as a kid so it's hard for him to get around. Anyway while finishing their drive I noticed the blade wasn't coming up evenly or very high. Took a look and the mount was tearing loose. Previous owner adapted an Ariens plow blade to fit the Bolens tractor.
The top of bracket off the plow ripped and was rolling over. Guess we pushed too many piles of snow, piles that are now mostly ice inside. So I pulled the blade off the tractor, got out the cutoff wheel, cut off the home made piece, cut off the metal that had split and rolled, too thick to try and straighten. Then weld a plate on to put the 2 pieces back together. Then I got to finish plowing our drive.
The bracket off the blade is flat on top with the sides folded down. When the PO welded the home made bracket on he only welded to the top. I didn't have time today to cut and weld pieces to the sides, sounds like a summer time project.
