Ken...responding to your PM...

If the system has been open...leaks, line replacement, loose fittings, etc...the complete system will have to be purged, using vacuum, to remove all moisture and contaminants.
We usually let it purge overnight.
Plus, some will recommend the Dryer be replaced.
And depending on compressor style, oil made need to be added too.

That's about all I know...got a buddy with the correct equipment that does all my automotive A/C work.
