Long, but good.

My son was in a sports bar with some buddies when he spied what was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. But being he was there for the game, he just decided to pass on the possibility.

After a while he noticed her staring at him out of the corner of his eye. Of course he mentioned it to his buddies, looking for a nod of approval.

As the game got intense, he focused his attention to it and it wasn't until half-time that he realized that she had gone. As he walked past the bar, the bartender yelled, "Hey Buddy!"

"There was a young lady here". "She said to give this to you."

Kind of surprised, he opened the paper to find her name and number.

A few days passed when he remembered the note and called her. They spoke and set up a date for the coming Saturday....

Her Dad met him at the door, welcomed him in, and began the obligatory Fatherly interrogation. A few moments later she entered the room...in a wheelchair.

Trying not to overreact, they greeted each other and after some small talk her Dad said," You two have a good time but remember to have her home by 11...or else."

They went to a movie and stopped for something to eat. "It's getting close to half past 10, we best be on our way", he said.

Helping her back in the car, he lifted her out of her wheelchair when she planted a kiss on the cheek. "It's been a beautiful evening, I have a surprise in store for you", she said.

Not knowing what to expect, they chatted on the way back to her house, but about 1/2 mile short of her street, she said, "Pull in on that dirt road, it's a shortcut."

So he did.

About 300 yards in he came to an abrupt halt as the road ended at a giant weeping willow tree. She grabbed his hand and said, "It's OK, just go slowly,. The branches are just hanging. You can drive under them.

When they were inside the canopy, she swung the door open, grabbed some branches, pulled herself out and lowered herself to the blanket he had placed on the ground.

You can imagine what happened next.

Unfortunately, they nodded off. He awoke in a startled fashion, looked at his watch, and saw it was almost 3 AM.

"We're in trouble now!" he said. "I have to get you home and face your Dad."

She didn't say a word, so he expected the worst.

As they pulled up to her house, he saw that the lights were still on, and her father was sitting in a chair on the porch.

He helped her out of the car, placed her in the wheelchair, and with a big gulp headed towards the door.

"YOU...IN THE HOUSE NOW, MISSY!"

"YOU WAIT HERE!"

He wheeled her in the house and slammed the door behind her. Expecting the worst, her Father walked towards him, held out his hand and said, "I can't let her know how glad I am to see that you 2 had a good time, as you're late and all. But you feel free to call on my Daughter anytime. I can tell you're a good kid.

"But, but, but" "I was expecting you to be madder than a hatter over this!" "I don't understand."

"Ya see boy", said her Father. "I'm real happy to see ya, cause.....

most guys leave her hangin' in the tree.
