I know that some of you know that grumpy and I also have another website called Audiokarma. Every year, for the past few years we have adopted families for the holidays with donations from the members at Audiokarma.
We originally started out to adopt a family during the holidays to show our children the importance of helping those who are less fortunate than themselves. We told the members about what we were doing, and the members started sending us donations. The Families for the Holidays, as we call our donation program, has grown tremendously. Last year Audiokarma adopted 27 families. We helped a single dad who had been injured and was unemployed, give his kids bikes for their birthdays (both had birthdays in December), as well as Christmas gifts. We have a great relationship with the organization Volunteers of America, and every year we try to help the families that may be difficult to get help for. Like the one we did with 9 children, we shopped, wrapped and delivered presents to this family. I am going to copy the post and put it on the Chevelleforum site, to give anyone the opportunity to help, if they choose to. May everyone have a safe and healthy holiday season. Nancy Here is a link to the thread. I am also going to copy it below. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=325708

Copied from the Audiokarma website.
Wow, October already! It's that time of year again, when we start thinking about the approaching holidays, and what can we do to help those in need during the holiday season. Three years ago, we started what has become a tradition, helping families in need. We would like to continue that this year, because this past year has been a tough one for a lot of people. Many of us have seen our family and friends struggle just to make ends meet. Our first year we were able to adopt 3 families. With all your generosity last year we shopped and delivered Christmas presents to 3 new families, we also found a food kitchen that was having a local business match any funds collected on a certain day and with our donation it equaled 1800 meals for the needy. But it did not end there, your donations kept coming in and after all was said and done, Audiokarma members' donations gave 27 families a Christmas. What an exceptional group of people we have here. “Everyone has a talent and a unique perspective and when shared with those in need, it helps to foster positive effects in their community, creating a new dimension in their own lives and the lives they touch.” So now we are asking for your help again this year. We will be working again with the Volunteers of America organization. They take requests for help, then they verify the information and when everything is verified they will give us a sheet with all the family information such as kids ages, kids needs, etc. In the past we have tried to help those with overwhelming needs, like the first year we adopted a family with 7 children. If you would like to read more about last years families please click on the links at the bottom of this page. If you are interested in making a donation to our “Adopt Families for the Holidays” fundraiser, please include the phrase “Family Holidays” with your donation. We have chosen to start the donations a little earlier this year, so that this will give everyone the opportunity to budget for a donation, if you choose to. We're asking only for whatever help you can afford to give. "If you haven't got a penny, then a ha'penny will do. If you haven't got a ha'penny, then God bless you." If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. Here are the 2 ways you can help by donating: 1) paypal: [email protected] 2) please include “Families” when making your donation 2) snail mail: Audiokarma LLC 29488 Woodward ave. Suite 160 Royal Oak Michigan 48073 Thank you for all your past generosity, and your continued support. And we hope that you all have a safe and Happy Holiday. When I started this thread it was not to push anyone for money, and I hope everyone know that. I wanted to let you guys know a little bit about David and I and how important it is for us to give back.

You and Dave are doing a good thing Nancy. I just got might United Way pledge info from work, I always give but I'm thinking I should redirect all or some of it to your cause. Thanks for helping those that need it.

Hank, sure I would love any help that we can get. I want you to do what you feel comfortable with. One of the reasons that we work with the Volunteers of America organization is because they give 100% of the money, donated at the holidays, back to those that need help.
David researched many "non profit" organizations and we were both surprised when we found out the % of money that actually makes it to those that need it. I am thankful for any and all help that we get. Sometimes I think that we get more out of it than the people we help. On a side note, I do my best to post what we have done and for who (no names). I have found that many people like to know where their money went. Thank you for showing interest in a wonderful cause Hank. Nancy

Nance and I got a call from VOA last week. They are hosting their first telethon on Fox on the 15th of this month. We got asked to come in and film a spot. We brought the whole family in and encouraged others to help support this great charity. They told us they will try to send us a link to the interview, once its posted on line. We will post a link, so you guys can see. Thanks for your support.

Sent via PayPal. Wish I could do more but the yearly layoffs have started. I know I've mentioned it before but after 8 months of doing nothing my days have to be numbered and I think the number is small.
Keep doing what you're doing, it's a good thing. Thank You. |

Hank, thank you so much ! It is so generous of you to think of someone else, especially with your days "being numbered", as you put it.
Thank you...

I don't know what the number is Nancy but I'm sure it's small. Still we've been fortunate and even when it happens there will still be lot of people less fortunate than us.
