Went online to MARVIN, Michigan Automated Response blah blah blah. Phone in or go online.
"Yes I'm still unemployed." "Okay." "Yes I'm still available and seeking a job." Yea, right! "Okay." "No I didn't refuse a job offer." "Okay." "No didn't earn any money." "Okay." "Please send me some money!" "Okay, goodbye." Then I went online to the company that handles the sub-pay for my former employer. "Yes, I'm still unemployed." "Okay." "Yes, I'm still eligible for unemployment benefits." "Okay." "Please send me some money!" "Okay, goodbye. Five minutes and I'm good for another 2 weeks. Oh, have to tell the company that handles sub-pay every week, MARVIN is every 2 weeks. Same pay as when I was working. Actually more since there is no SS or Medicare taxes on unearned income. Yea, I could get use to this. It ends after first week of November, or maybe sooner, then reality sets in. I'll deal with reality when it hits. In the mean time I'm going to enjoy this dream world and pretend this is how life is supposed to be. I feel better than I have in years. No more wondering when the lay off notice is coming, it came and I will survive. No more fighting to keep my job, it's gone and they can keep it, I don't want it anymore. No more tension, no more stress, life is good. I really can't tell you all what a relief this is. Over 10 yrs of looking over my shoulder. Actually it's been 20 yrs since my first lay off notice. So 20 yrs of wondering, will I be next? It's done, it's over and I feel great, life is good. I wish you all the best and wish you all could feel the relief and lack of pressure I feel right now. I know it will end in a few short months but for now I really need this. Remember, it's only a job. You were looking for a job when you found the one you have and you can find another if you need to. There is so much more to life than working, please try to enjoy it. Thanks, for listening. Boring as it is I just needed to say it. |

It will for you too Gary. I know the job you have now is not what you really want but maybe it's just a stepping stone. "Don't worry, be happy." Of course you pretty much always are happy, guess you got it figured out.

I'm sure I'll be ok in my position ,starting to get used to the routine. I do like evenings and weekends off .The owner wants me to be the used car sales manager when the new store is finished in June,I flat turned the job down.I dont want the hours or the pressure any more.I'll take getting up at 4am on Wednesdays and going to Columbus anyday over that.
