Default Detroit Dragway Reunion May 21, 2011

So is anyone heading out to the Detroit Dragway Reunion this weekend at Milan Dragway. Unfortunately I won't be able to go with my car, still waiting on trans. But I was considering going just to watch and see some old friends.

Jp I wanted to take mine to Motor Muster but they would not accept it because, as they said, I have to many "modifications". You were only allowed 3.

I am bummed but so be it. Instead I am going to Chevellabration ! I got the better end of the deal.

grumpy and I are planning to be at Milan to watch our friends also. We are going to have to try to meet up with anyone who is planning to go to Milan.

Yah they are very strict on the number of mods. They are cool though if you explain that somethings are period correct such as headers and column mounted tachs cragar ss's and torque thrust wheels and after marker exhaust. My car is very stock appearing until it starts up but they let it pass because I was able to present facts that these were all possible back in the late 60's. Thus is the 3rd year my car has been selected to participate.

We just got home a little while ago, too much sun, and too much to do at home. Besides that fact that it isn't as much fun being at the racetrack when your car is sitting at home in the garage.

Anyway..

Some friends were not happy with their times, but they were still pretty respectable:
Bill spun his tires but still ran a 9.94
Kevin's Vega ran a 10.46 (usually runs 9.40's)
Danny's Malibu ran a 13.45

I do have to say my brother Eric was awesome. He let us use his golf cart all the time that we were there. I have never experienced the dragstrip with a golf cart. Now that I have....I WANT ONE !!! Thanks Eric..you made the day great !

JUNE 18-19. We left the track on Saturday when it started to rain. Did they finish the event? I really wanted to see the Dick Harrell funny car run.
