Default Radio

What kind of radio or music system do you currently have and are you happy with it ?The favorite driving tunes thread made me wonder as my stereo system bit the dust last year and will need to be replaced in the future.I plan on going the hidden route with MP3 or something similar. It will most likely be mounted in the trunk with my current CD player.

Hey John,

Have you considered the RetroSound radios? Not sure if your current CD player would be compatible but they do have MP3 & USB inputs as well as CD changer controls. I have one in my 70 and it isn't powerful but does fit nice in the factory spot and goes loud enough to make the music enjoyable.

Can't remember what you have in your dash currently.

Ausley's offers a nice replacement radio...the chassis are specific for the different model year Chevelles....much better quality than the Retrosound units, IMO.

I think Retrosounds is what I currently have and it only lasted 4 years with us using mostly C/D's .

Is there an easy way to tell who made my radio without taking it completely out ,it was a pain to install and Id just as soon leave it there since the replacement will go elsewhere later.I just dont want to buy another from whoever made this one.But then I guess I can buy whatever kind to go in the trunk.

Does it look like this? If so it is a custom auto sound which generally don't get rave reviews even though it probably cost $200-300. The retrosound does better and the one Bill mentioned would be great for a stock appearing unit.
