a set of wheels for sale?

so i have a few of you on facebook so you might of read this story but for those of you that are not let me tell you about something that happened yesterday.

I found an add on CL. The person put on the add I have a few sets of cragar ss rims i need to sell. you can mix and match all of the sizes or you can buy one size.
So i emailed him and said what sizes do you have?

he replied "i have 14 x 6 14x 7 15x7 15 x8"

I said "ok i will take a set of the 15s since you are pretty local to me can we meet up?

He said "sure meet me at the mall on 209" Local to me and him

So i get there and he has a pick up truck with all the wheels in the back. I look at all of them the 14s and the 15s but i noticed the 15s are the only one with tires so i was even more happy because they looked brand new.

Now in his add he says "i am selling each set for $300"
So i went to the bank before i went to see him and i took out $300 exactly

I said to him ok i will take the 15s like we spoke on the phone about. So i take them off the truck and lay them on the ground and look them over. a few scuffs here and there but it wasn't so bad, nothing that a few times polishing couldn't hurt and for $300 bucks with tires i can't complain.

So I said to him "ok thank you for coming down here to meet me let me get the $300 out of the car" I didnt want to haggle with the guy i felt that $300 was a great price for a set of wheels and tires

Then he says "Wait $300?"

I said "well you told me on the phone a set of wheels for $300"

he says " no for this set its $600"

I said "wait on the phone i told you i wanted the 15s and you told me the set was $300. Where did $600 come from?"

he said " a set of wheels are 2 wheels not 4"

I looked at him with this look on my face about to start laughing and he says to me
"there is a tire shop down the road i will take the $300 but only give you the 4 wheels but only 2 tires deal?"

I put the wheels back on his truck look at him and said "Thanks for your time and you should update your CL add and tell everyone that your price means 2 wheels not 4. In the real would if you say you have a set of wheels you look at a car a set is 4 wheels. you look at a motorcycle a set of wheels is 2"

got in my car and left. This is why its so hard to find good used parts because people play so many games! i am about to give up and just swallow the 1200 and get new wheels and tires!

I've actually seen this happen before...some guys think a set of wheels/tires is a PAIR.
Most ads will state a set of FOUR...to avoid any confusion.
If the Cragers were unilug the dude did 'ya a favor. Those wheels NEVER run true.

I agree a set of wheels is 4 for a car or you are selling a pair of wheels for a car.

You just can't fix stupid.

yeah they are unilug and i was just not happy with the way he was like a set is 2 wheels..lol but its ok i am shopping right now for rims..lol

Stay away from the Unilug wheels.
The oblong lug holes make it damn near impossible to get the wheel to run true with the axle. Every wheel I've ever seen vibrates at speed.
Even Cragar realizes this and now offers standard round lug hole drilled Cragar SS wheels.

lol no he wasn't he did construction as far as i know..lol
