Drove the Chevelle up to Flint for Back to the Bricks on Saturday, no problems. Drove the Chevelle home from Back to the Bricks, no problems. Drove the Chevelle to Baker's on Sunday, no problems. He drove home from Baker's and it died on the way home. Had to call Hagerty for a tow, they were great by the way. Anyway, I'm sure it was his fault because he was driving.
Fried the fusible link off the + battery cable. Checked it out, no shorts to ground so I replaced the fusible link. Turned ignition to on, no shorts. Fired it up and instant smoke, fusible link fried again.. Checked the alt and output post was direct short to ground. Alt imploded, pieces rolling around inside, it's only a couple years old. Rotate alt ,no short, rotate some more and short to ground. New alt, new fusible link, all good now. Don't know what he did but it was fine when I was driving. |

Lol, seems things alway happen when someone else is driving. By the way my son owes me money, but it has nothing to do with the car. I think that's what parents are fore.
Glad you got it fixed and it was not too serious where it might have fried all the wiring and caused way more problems. They don't make things the way the use too. Suprise an alternator 2 years old went bad.

Got the VR and positive battery cable replaced today so all done. What a pain replacing the battery cable with headers in the way.
