This has been the week from hell. It really started out about a month ago when we started having problems with my 2000 AWD Astro. We started having problems with it shifting hard on the way back from a 3 hour drive. So we really hadn't driven it much. That is until last week when we decided that we needed to have it looked at. So I contacted a buddy of mine and he said he would check it out. Long story short it turns out that the clutchs were bad. Since the van is in pretty good shape we decided that we were going to have it fixed.
Then we had the big storm roll through here on Friday night and we lost power. Luckily for me I had a friend near by who was able to take some of my freezer items so I didn't lose anything. But my kids were freaking out, what were they going to do without their ipods, tablets, computers, video games, and a microwave. I thought it was hilarious watching them. It was a long weekend because we didn't have power until Sunday night, but thank heaven for car chargers. lol Then on Sunday there was a BMX show that my husband and son had been looking forward to for weeks. We never realized how much we love having the room in the van until I had to borrow my Mother's Saturn Vue to go to the BMX show. Image getting 4 BMX bikes in the back of a Saturn, I had to be very creative since we did not want to take these bikes apart. And since they didn't have as much room as anticipated I needed to go so that we could take two vehicles. Another beautiful day wasted, no car show for me. Then on Monday I got a call that the van should be done in a day or two, I just needed to drop off some cash to pay for the rebuild kit on the transfer case. Not a problem, or so I thought. I got to my buddys house to give the money to his wife and she tells me that she just got off of the phone with him and that he had just dropped a 100lb piece of equiptment on his hand and it is swollen and purple and he is not going to the clinic until his break. Ugh !! Let's just hope that the week gets better.

Hope you buddy is going to be ok. I agree hope the rest of the week goes better. Some times all we can do is roll with the flow. I have to laugh about the kids. Most kids don't know how to entertain themselves like we had to as kids. It was amazing what we could do with a large card board box and a couple of sticks. Lol

Sometimes this stuff just seems to come in waves until you think you're going to drown in it. Hopefully this week will be better for you.
We were in Frankemuth when the power went out here Saturday. Don't know why it went out then, it was a beautiful day. Lynda called me, she was at home and she's all freaked out. I don't know what you do to hook up this generator, blah, blah, blah. Calm down I said, let me talk to Tom, our neighbor came over to help her. Our power was only out a few hours. They probably had to cut power to fix something. Anyway, good luck Nancy. |

Well, other than another storm coming in, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I will say that last night after my post I did get a text from Jim telling me that he was on his way to go pick up my van from the trans shop. I made arrangements to go and pick it up at 2pm this afternoon. That was until grumpy told me that he wasn't feeling well. Deep sigh. So I took a chance that my daughter was home and she was. Didn't take any coaxing and she was here and I picked up the van a little after 2. It is like day and night driving it. No squeeking of the tires when I turned the corner and no more clunking. Yeah !
Things are looking up.
