Default Need some HELP!!

Hello all, I am new here (obviously) and looking at purchasing a chevelle locally. I am scheduled to see the car Thursday but wanted to know what to look out for. Im not looking to spend a bundle. I just want something really good looking and driveable while I work on it. I found this car on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Im 80% sure its not a true SS. He also lists it as a 72 but from the turn signals it looks like a 71. I just want to know some things to look out for when I go and look at this car. I dont want to make a really stupid investment in my dream car. All the radio crap will come out so Im not worried about that.
My main questions are (so far):

-What is the history of the car
-What is the vin
-Do they have the protecto plate
-Any frame damage
-Ever in any accidents
-What was the original engine
-Was it ever column shift or always floor shift
-Disc brakes or all drums
-Power steering and Power brakes

If you all can give me any more insight on what to ask and what to look for to make a wise investment I would really really appreciate it. Thank you all in advance and hope you all had a great holiday.

Page Not Responding

The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding.
Please try the options below:

* Try to access the feature directly from the eBay Home Page, instead of using a bookmark.
* Wait a few minutes and try to access the feature again.

If you have waited ten to fifteen minutes and you still can't access your page:

* Check our Announcement Board to see if the feature is currently unavailable.

If what you are looking for is unavailable, you may still be able to access other parts of the site from the eBay Home page

I'd be making sure the undercarraige is in good shape. You can checkout this site: http://www.chevellestuff.com/ for good info on which questions can be answered from the VIN and cowl tag...like engine size, interior, etc.

Otherwise, post as many more pics and questions here as you can.

Possible signs of SS pkg include rear sway bar, boxed control arms, etc.

Good luck.

Andy...

I'm about to head off to bed, hopefully someone will chime in with some pointers.

Look for rust repair in the fenders at the bottom behind the wheel opening, bottoms of the doors on the inside, and the quarters behinf the rear wheel. Also, check the bottom of the rear window on the outside corners, they like to rust here. Check the trunk floor too.

I don't think it is an SS. His buy it now is a little on the high side for a Malibu clone.

Mike if this is the car, the vin would say it had a 350 engine, built out of Baltimore. With all the changes it might hard to know if it was a SS car with out documentation. Can't see the dash very well, but I can't quite tell if it has round guages, almost looks like a sweep. Also welcome to the site.

Thanks for all the insight everyone.

The ebay link is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=170426437471

From what the guys over at chevelles.com are telling me, the 410 richmond gears with spool are going to be really bad and not really usable as a daily driver.

Im just trying to make a smart investment so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think a spool would be so great on the street either.

It hasn't been completely "de-raced" with that spool and the cage. It might make you wonder exactly how hard it has been HAMMERED on too.
