Wife decided she didn't like my selection of the new lights for the beach house project. Wired all three rooms today, but the wife was not impressed. The blue ladder is the staircase to get upstairs. Heck this project is easy when you are a redneck.

Actually I pulled out all the old wiring and put up my elk hunting lights until I get the new lights installed and inspected for our beach house project I started last August. Most of the framing is now done and waiting for the weather to get better so I can move back outside.

Going start pulling wire next weekend. Code is 14/2 for most things. The wash machine. dish washer, garbage disposal, and frig require 12/2 wiring and need to be on there own circuits. Call me old fashion but the smaller wiring seems to be the norm now days, but makes me neverous. I know the insulation factor is better then it use to be, but still perfer the extra safety factor. I like 12/2 for all plugs and 14/2 for lighting. With the 12/2 wiring you just buy the better plugs verses the cheap one.

You said that the wife was not impressed, but was she happy with the lights or are you going to have to change them ?

House get all new recessed lighting in the next few weeks. This project is a lot like my car, got a lot bigger then planned.
I'll need my hunting lights back next fall.

Yep the cost of wire is currently outragous and anything to keep the wiring project economical seems the right approach. Every burg is different but current (NEC) codes, as a rule, require alot of electrical upgrades that you dont find out about until your local building inspector makes his visit.Things like anti-Arc, tamper-resistant and GFI Reptables in places the would have never been considered before. Wiring sizes and loads that have been "improved" and on and on.

I mention this as a heads-up because the "re-do" the inspector might require kills the budget, but every town is different .
