Default Has This Ever Happened To You?

Have you ever pulled up to an intersection next to someone and they wanna race?
This past Sunday, my wife and I are on our way to Sams club in her 06 Chrysler 300c. (yeah......its gotta a Hemi. Lol) We come to light and pull up next to a Blue 2010 Challenger RT.The guys wife turned and glanced at our car, then light turned green and the guy in the Challenger mashes the go pedal. I just took off at the normal speed to stay out of trouble with my wife. I could hear the guy banging the gears and Challenger sounded pretty good!
Then a police cruiser pulls out from a side street behind the Challenger and turned on his lights. We started laughing, my wife said "should I roll down the window and as we drive by"..." I said no, just leave the window up". I think he feels pretty embarrassed considering that his wife was sitting next to him. That was our excitement for Sunday!

I'm sure he's younger than me, but old enough to know better.....or not.
The rest of the story goes like this. Last year, because my Chevelle was still in pieces I drove my wifes car to a Sunday cruisin. Well, that very same blue Challenger was there that night. I remember seeing his car a few times parked in the Sam's club parking lot. It turns out he's a manager there. I'm hoping he doesn't remember my wifes car from last year.

When I was 16 I was in my 72 (wow, 29 years ago) and a Mustang pulled up next to me at a light. He gunned his engine wanting me to race, I made like I wanted to and when the green hit. Same thing happened, I took off at normal speeds and the cop in a parking lot took off after the Mustang.

You brought back a memory. Thank You!

When I was a Senior in high school, many many years ago. I had a boyfriend who had a Grand Fury which was a former police car. It still had the spot lights on both doors, and from a distance it looked like a cop car. This car had some power and he liked to race.

Once when we were on Gratiot (the local cruising strip when I was in high school ) we had someone pull up beside us, look in our car and laugh when they saw us. This ticked off my boyfriend and he gunned his motor. Both of us took off from the light. We were kicking this guys butt, then the other car lost it and spun out. We saw some police lights behind us and ducked down a street. I don't know what happened with the other guy, I just know we were never caught that night. Whew !

Back when I had my black 77 Bandit Trans Am seems everyone wanted to race .It wasnt very fast though ,it just looked like it was ,now my red 76 T/A was a different story .It wasnt as pretty but it would move quite nicely .But no I never street raced ,it was too dangerous (liar).

Don't get me wrong guys, I believe that any type of racing should be done at the race track. But I think that it took me a few years to realize, just like some others that I know, that street racing is extremely dangerous.

Now will I light 'em up, or smoke the tires every now and then.....hell yes !

A few years back on the way home from the Dream Cruise a guy in Taurus SHO wanted to race. I took off from the light at normal speed and he floored it. I hit 2nd gear and nailed it, blew by him then shut it down. I guess I shouldn't have but seriously, a Taurus?
