Twice in the last 6 months...IN THE SAME CAR!!!!!

I have a '90 LTD I picked up from the original owner about 6 months ago, I use it as a work car. About 2 weeks after I bought it, I was nailed...well the woman behind me was nailed by some girl doing 50 or so. She didn't even hit the brakes, like she wasn't watching the road...I suspect there was a cell phone involved. She hit the woman behind me, then crashed into me, then we all crashed into the F150 in front of me. I got jarred pretty good, and am still dealing with the aftermath, 2 bulging discs in the lumbar area of my back. I take pain pills when it hurts in lieu of an epidural steroid injection. My car was totaled, and I bought it back and fixed it the best I could with JY parts. I hired an attorney to handle making sure that I am compensated for 3 months of physical therapy, about $4000 in lost wages, MRI's, dr. bills, etc, etc.

A few days before xmas I was hit again, same car...this time by a 16 year old girl driving her 328i beamer. She hit me going 30 or so, and judging from how that phone was attached to her face for the hour we waited for the cops, and that she didn't brake at all before hitting me, that she was on her phone too.

My car has been totaled AGAIN...and there is something seriously wrong with my back. With these kinds of accidents, sometimes injuries take a little while to show up...muscles and such spasm and swell, and mask pain or injury. Well this past Sunday night, my back started to really act up. I took some "medicine" and went to bed hoping for some relief the next day. I went to work Monday, and my back hurt so bad I could barely sit. I took another pill, and tried to deal with it. Yesterday I stayed home...it hurt worse than Monday. I called my doctors yesterday and they all told me not to do anything that causes me pain. I told them that everything I do hurts, except laying flat on my back...no joke. I am home again today, and going to my Neuromedical specialist this afternoon. She is going to want to take MRI's again. I am missing work that I can't afford to miss, my back hurts like a MF, I have 1,000 little projects started that I can't touch, I can't play with my kids...etc. This sucks!!!!!

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HANG THE F UP AND DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over.

I couldn't agree more!! Yesterday driving home it was Mary's turn to drive this week so I was the passenger and I was counting all the people on Cell phones. It was amazing they all had them and were drive like crap. They need to ban those things. Makes you wonder if it would be better to give them all some JD, at least when driving drunk you think you know how to drive and if anything else drive slower. I hope you feel better soon and that nothing else is wrong with your back. On a positive note at least your here to tell us about it and didn't get hit from the side or worst because someone didn't see a stop light. Take it easy and take care of your self. I hate cell phones because of reasons like this!

Really sorry to hear about this. I am with you 2000%. Hang the hell up and drive peoples. No call is important enough to put that many lives in jeopardy.

The other one that gets me up on my soapbox is texting while driving.

I hope your recovery is as swift as possible.

They banned them in Cali. The ban worked at first, nobody was using a cell phone, but now a year later everyone is using them. I go to the local Univ, just about every student is pulling out of the parking lot with a cell phone to their ear.

Sorry to hear about your back Jake, I hope everything heals 100%.

My buddy is a cop, every time I talk to him, I tell him to lookout for people on cell phones.

That sucks Jake, this is going to get very ugly for you. Really, really ugly. The second girls insurance is going to try to hang it on the first insurance company, the first one is going to hang it on the second one and a huge insurance battle is going to insue. The only one to suffer in this is going to be you.

If it goes to a jury trial, a jury is going to have an extremely hard time proving without doubt which accident is causing you the pain and again, you are the one that will pay the price because of it.

Its all BS, I'm going through this from that head on collision I had on May 31st where the woman drilled me head on in my lane. But due to a prior car accident many years ago, they are trying to say my pain is due to that accident and not the head on accident

Good luck, I hope it all works out for you

Jeff

Thanks guys. I just got back from the appointment. They injected me, MRI'd me and I have an appointment for an epidural steroid injection on Monday. They also told me to stay home from work. Man, that is the last thing I need.

I am hoping that the first case settles here pretty soon here, that is what we're shooting for anyways.
