I'm wanting to get the motor started soon and was wondering if Rotellat would work as a break-in oil for a roller motor? None of the local parts stores sell break-in oil. Has anyone used it for that? I know since it's a it's not as critical as if it were a flat tappet.

Being hydraulic roller, I wouldn't worry too much. You can buy zinc additive at most parts stores if you are still concerned. Just make sure you prime the oil pump before start up.

I think GM dealers still have EOS (engine oil supplement). A different name now but the same stuff. Like carpoor said though, a roller engine shouldn't require it.

I used Rotella/Delo oil exclusively in an 800+ HP 540.
After 3 years of many, many street miles and numerous track visits, although having no issues, I tore this engine down for a freshening up. Internals looked brand new. Re-ringed STD, new STD bearings, replaced solid roller lifters (.800"+ lift) and valve springs...back together it went.
