Default Question for Ms Grumpy...

Nancy,
I believe I read where you recently installed TMI sports seat covers in your Chevelle.
If I'm correct, do you have any pictures that you can post? Are you pleased with the quality/fit/comfort of those style covers?
I'm considering buying a TMI Sport bucket set for a '72...
Thanks!!

Hello....
Was hoping to get some first hand feedback on those seats.
I have read some feel the foam is too dense causing the driver to sit too high up.

You know I have them right? They are definitely firm but I also had new frames and springs done at the same time.

Doesn't matter now John...
After getting first hand feedback from a couple upholstery guys on the TMI items, I ordered OEM style Legendary covers and ACI foam this morning.
Both will ship out today.

I will first off say the the seats covers in my car were only 3 yrs old, but the foams were many, many years old.

I know that you have already ordered your covers and foams. But I will still tell you that the covers are really nice. I like how the stitching matches the back seat. The feel of the covers is not too stiff, it has an almost softer leather type feel.

The foams do sit a little high. But that could be because I used to sit so low that I felt like I was dragging my behind on the pavement. David is 6'4" and in the passenger seat he said that his head almost touches the top with the new foams. I do have to say that the side support is wonderful, I no longer slip around in the seat while making a turn. It has the back and side support more like a newer vehicle.

I would highly recommend the TCI seat covers.

Thanks for the info.
I have heard from a few others that the foam is too dense...placing your head too close to the headliner.
One upholstery guy told me he drills a few 1" holes with a hole saw in the TMI foam to relieve the height.
I didn't want to be bumping my head on the ceiling of this Elky so purchased the stock replacement covers from Legendary. Those along with the new ACI foam from NPD actually cost more than the TMI covers.
