Default 30 years ago today...

It was 30 years ago today that Mount Saint Helens blew her top here in Washington State! Man how time flies!!! I remember the day she blew and we were frantically trying to cover all the open holes on our 747's here on the Boeing Everett flightline. My bosses dad and step-mom were the ones in the camper that literally got blown away. St Helens has definetly changed the landscape in SW Washington as well as many lives.

30 years, really? You're right it just doesn't seem that long ago. It's a long way from here but we saw plenty on the news about it.

I was working at Mt Saint Helens surveying logging roads. I was lucky I was at home when it blew. I had just been there a few days before it blew. I work on some of the after math of the destruction and saw a lot of things first hand that most people never saw. It blew on a Sunday, had that been Monday I would have been up there.

Yep, I remember it well; my parents were living in Olympia, WA at the time. Come to think of it I have some statues lying around made from the hot ash.

Boy Ray you are sure fortunate that she blew on the weekend! Pretty much everybody that was in the area perished but there were a few survivors. We have a lake house vacation home on Lake Mayfield (Mossyrock) that we were freak'n out about but the ash went east.
