Default Board and out of money.

This is the kind of stuf I do when nothing else to do.Made a template that fits my dash.Gona be polished aluminum when done with autometer guages.

Dont have money for the guages yet but should be able to find a piece of aluminum sheet to get started with. Some may notice no hole in template for ignition cylinder. No need for hole because installed tilt colum from 81 ta.

Good you have the talent to do that kind of stuff. I have an old autometer tach I just pulled. 3" white face, it's for mounting under dash on the column. I guess it can be removed from case and mounted in a dash. It's yours if you want it.

Ya 64 dash is flat while 65 vss back toward the driver.I see used 64 dashes at swap meets all the time and there perfect for this kind of thing.I did a simular mod to a 65 years ago and was way more work involved.Forgot 64 was flat. One other thing thats different is the steel dash unit. The 65 has a body line on both sides and I think in the spot where devides the glove box hole and plastic insert hole that holds the guage cluster. Its right where the dash pad comes down and ends on both sides. 64 is smooth.Im no computer guy but Im tryin to figure out a way to copy my templat to my computer so other people can download it if they want.My plan is to polish and clearcoat my new piece.Paint the old dash part mat black and I found this silver-chrome 1/4 in tape at hoby shop to go around the outer most edge to simulate the way it looked originaly. And Hank thanks for the offer.Ill be ordering my guages as soon as I finish a side job and have the extra money.

I did something similar with my 64. I had a piece of tin covering the old bezel because it was so thrashed. I recently cut the entire center out of it and fiberglassed a new center into it. I then used a textured paint and cut holes for my autometer gauges. I've still got to purchase a tach and speedo to finish it off. I'll start a new post with pics. I don't want to hijack yours.
