Default First car

What was your first car you owned?

Mine was a 1962 Studebaker 4 door Lark Cruiser with a 289 engine. It was white with gray interior.

Mine was a 62 rambler wagon. It hardly ever moved under its own power, but I liked it.

My Dad gave me a 53 chevy when I was 11 "Here take this apart, That will keep you buzy"

I also had a 62 Lark later, It was my "driver" whilst I was hot-rodding my 56 Chevy

I saved all my paper route and strawberry picking from when I was 13 and at 15 (1971) bought a 1964 GTO with a 389 Tri-power with a power glide and it had a 390 open rear end from my uncle in Ky for $800 and had to borrow $100 from my parents with a $15.00 a month payment. Two weeks after I got my license I got nailed for unlawful take off (Smoking the tires) in front of the high school and lost my license for 6 months when I had to go to a court of my piers.

I really wish I kept that car, but I sold it when I got a 70 Z-28 LT1 for graduation in 1974....oh well as they say if we knew then what we know now life would be so much better. I have actually put a request in the GTO forums if anyone knows where this car is and posted the VIN number as I still have a old registration with my Mom's name on it.

Wow Ric, we were close with our choice of cars...

While I still had the '63 Impala, I fell in love with my girlfriends sisters '65 GTO 389 Tri-Power and bought it from her for $600! Later that same year ('73) I sold the Impala for $275 bucks with new paint and new top! In '74 on the way to work, I saw a silver car with black stripes on the hood that caught my eye at a car lot. I had always wanted a '69 Z/28 and wondered if that was what I had seen. I spun around and went back to the car lot and sure enough, it was a '69 DZ302 Z/28 in silver and black w/4-speed. $1,195.00 was on the windhield with 33Kmiles! The car was only 5 years old with only 33,000 miles and I could get it for under $2,000 bucks! Yep, goodbye GTO - hello Z/28!
BTW, they gave me $600 trade-in on the GTO! Man, I wish I had all 3 of those cars today! Greg

Bought it 15 years ago with no engine... still have it, and it still has no engine.
