South Gratiot Cruise 2010

For those of you who live in the southeastern part of Michigan, this upcoming week is the South Gratiot Cruise. The cruise runs from 8 mile to 11 mile in Roseville and East Detroit.

Everynight of the week, Tuesday thru Friday, a business will have a "cruise". At these cruises you can win prizes as well as a chance to win a prime parking spot for Saturdays Cruise.

Gratiot Avenue is a 6 lane divided road with a grassy median, 3 lanes in each directions. In years past, people have been allowed to sit on the median, which is nice.

One of the things that I like about this cruise is the fact that the local police actually take orange traffic cones and mark off one lane for the "cruisers" to use. So while everyone else is sitting in bumper to bumper traffic you can cruise along. To be allowed this luxury, you will have to buy a "pass" which I think is like 10 or 20 bucks, and can be bought at alot of the businesses along Gratiot for the next week.
