Default Woodward Dream Cruise 8/21/2010

When I checked in January I got a date of 8/15, yesterday I was looking and the date is 8/21. So dream cruise and back to the bricks are the same weekend.

You know they are trying to combine them together as if you take Saginaw St from Downtown Flint it turns into Dixie Hwy south of GrandBlanc and takes you all the way to M-59 in Pontiac (the big runabout) that turns into Woodward. It would be a interesting drive to say the least.

That's not a dream cruise, it's more like a cross country cruise.

Have you tried going north or south on Woodward into Pontiac at rush hour? It is a nightmare in an everyday driver. How many of us would drive our Chevelles in that kind of traffic?

I wish they would do the classic stickers like they do in the South Gratiot cruise.

I have not been to Woodward in two years because of the traffic, the last time I was there it took me 2 hours to get from Sq Lake to 15 mile and then they raised my parking space from $15.00 to $50.00 and when I got there it was full and the owner was no where around so he got my money and I got no spot....never again. Flint actually wants people there and don't charge a cent, if fact they limit the prices that the soda, and food vendors charge.

Last year I talked to the "Mothers" rep that hauls the big semi around and said that Flint does not charge him a cent to set up downtown and he as paying over 5K to set up in Birmingham.

All the crap mentioned is why I'm going to Back to the Bricks. I may cruise over to Woodward one day early in the week but won't be anywhere near there on Saturday.

Birmingham broke is kind of hard to believe and just because the backed out what does that mean? People will still be there and parked all over, police will be cruising.., trash will still have to be picked up, beside the cost of the police dept where are there expenses? Oh yeah, they do put in a lot of port a potties.

Hotels and restaurants like it, the rest of the businesses don't. Most close because customers can't get there or park. It's got pluses and minuses for the city's.
