Tomorrow is the day, the first day of the ride I have been training for, my 175 mile ride for Leukemia. Tomorrow is 100 miles, sunday another 75 miles. I think I have done my training pretty well, only thing is we have an 80% chance of rain, and I believe its heavy rain, that could suck. This past wed I went down to Madison to one of if not the top bike shop in the midwest and had them do a new fitting on my bike, which resulted in some huge changes. I hope this was a wise move, I have been getting some pretty serious back aches at about 80 miles, so something was off. Unfortunately with all our rain lately I havent had a chance to put any miles on it since the changes. This could make for an interesting first 100 miles, or it could be the fastest and most comfortable 100 I do, which is what they say it will be.
I will be sure to let you guys know how it goes, and again, for those of you that helped me with my goal to raise $1000, I cant thank you enough. I did meet my goal (even though online doesnt show it), and each of you were very important in that. When the whether turns to crap tomorrow, I will grab the bars, lock onto the pedals and be grateful to each of you for giving, and get it done for each of you. So thanks again. Jeff

Jeff,
My ex mother-in-law was always an avid rider. Every other year she would ride across the United States. When she was 60 she rode across Australia. I always respecter her for her determination and devotion to something she really loved. I wish you a safe and enjoyable ride, and hope that when you reach the end, you realize how unique you are, for giving you time and love to help raise money for a worthy cause. Nancy

Good luck Jeff. I was thinking about you earlier today, remembering that your race is coming up. If it rains, it rains on everyone else too.

Sorry it took so long, I couldnt bring my laptop along with me in my luggage.
Well the ride is done. I made it and as of right now I am 100% drained. Saturday we had 21 mph winds out of the north and the ride went pretty much straight north. So it became a battle of determination more than anything else. A huge number of riders had to be brought back, they just couldnt do it, and I dont blame them a bit. As I was at the last rest stop refilling my drinks, one of the support vehicles pulled up real fast and yelled "Dr. xxxxxxxx (I didnt catch the name) get in now, we have a heart attack or stroke in progress at stop 5!!" The guy grabbed his bag and was off. I never did hear the results of what happened, but I hope the rider was ok. It was just such an extremely hard effort to get through that wind, I am really suprised if that was the only one. Today it was pretty tough early on to get the legs working, and I rode pretty conservatively for the first 35 or so miles into the wind again, but after 35 my legs were back and I upped the pace to more of a race pace, which was fun. Overall, excellent experience, hands down the best run charity event I have ever been involved with and will without doubt do it again. Thanks everyone for all the support and donations, it means more to me than I could ever express over the internet. When my phone re-charges (music was on all day) I will post up a few pictures from the experience. Jeff

Jeff,
You don't need to thank us, we need to thank you. Without people like you many of the charities would not be able to raise alot of the monies that they do. I am so glad you had a safe and enjoyable ride. Welcome home.
