Been chasing this problem for 10 years now.....well it was getting hot back before i parked it for 9 years.
Anyway its a 454 truck motor. I first replaced the thermal clutch and it helped but didn't fix it so i decided to replace the performance 5 inch March pulley with a 7 inch pulley ( I even drove to Jegs and picked it up ) and that helped as well but didn't solve the problem. So i've had this Afco radiator for ten years and wasn't going to use it till i had the motor redone but i decided to go ahead and put it in and it solved the problem. I guess my old tired 3 row just wasn't up to the job. Now she hits 180 and no further....i love it. Its nice to cruise around and not have to keep checking the temp gauge. |

Gary,
I went through this same thing in my jeep. Sometimes its best to do just as you and replace the thing. Glad the problem is solved. Dave
