Default Offered a job this morning

I was sitting watching the morning news when my phone rang this morning. It was not the typical ring, I have different rings for different people, and I thought it was one of my girls who live out of state. It wasn't, it was my old boss. He told me that one of his Managers had just given their notice and he was taking a chance, calling me, to offer me a job.

I really liked my job, I just quit because I was really working hard on getting this site up and running as well as working on our other sites, Audiokarma and Politicalchat.

Now I am in a strange place. Do I want to go back to work and punch a clock ? Do I want to go back to work and pay less for health insurance ? Do I want to go back to work and have a few extra bucks in my pocket, maybe be able to buy the tow vehicle ? But then I have to give up my freedom to do what I want, when I want.

I talked to David and he, of course, doesn't want me to go back to work out of the house. He knows how much time I have put into this site and the others and he knows how nice it is to just get into the car and go to a show. He also said that he likes having me around, really ?

I will tell you guys that before I left my last Management job that they did everything, and offered me a lot, to stay. I was really good at what I did and I do miss it. But I have also gotten to spend a lot of time with my family over the past year, that when I was working, I never got to do.

Anyway, just wanted to put it out there and I wonder what you guys think. I need some input.

Oh man, that sounds like a tough decision.

I would look at it this way:

Do you need the money?
Are you willing to give up your "free" time to work 40+ hours a week?
What expenses will you have going back to work? Like gas, clothing, meals?

If it were me, I would kindly pass on the offer. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate already and really enjoy the time that not punching a clock affords you. And you said, you enjoy the time with your family, that to me is more important.

I wish you luck.

Mike

What you could do, and I have done this on several occasions for different things, is take a piece of paper (or use excel) and list the pros/cons of it. Give yourself a few days to think about it and list them all out. It really helps with the decision making process when you see it spelled out in black and white.

Whew.. I almost feel guilty that I am considering passing on this job, when so many people are trying to get a job.

Both of you have given me some great input. You would think it is an easy decision, but it is not. And I have turned down an offer from the same man before, so I am even more surprised that he called.

I really hate this. My life was going along fine. Sure I could use the extra cash, or should I say, my car could use a few more things. But this is life, there is always that bump in the road that makes you question if things could be better. There are many pros and cons in this scenario, and many people who will be affected. I talked to my mom and she said "don't do it". I respect my mom but I know that we have spent a lot of time together working on my brothers house and we have both thoroughly enjoyed the time together.

We will see what the kids have to say tonight as we talk about it at the dinner table.

Go to work...slacker!!
I'm not greedy...I'd love to share the joy and happiness of having to get up at 4 AM every weekday.

Take the job,get all you can out of it.God only knows what is in store for this once great country especially if that socialist at the helm gets elected for another term. And keep cash and survival food kits on hand at all times.
